AA/AS in Sociology

Sociology at Cabrillo College is part of the Global and Human Studies area and offers a scientific, systematic way to study societies, groups and institutions. Students learn to analyze contemporary society at local, regional, national and global scales. Topics range from family life to large organizations, work and leisure, divisions by class, race and gender, and institutions such as the economy, politics, media, religion and the justice system. Students develop abilities in careful reading, writing, research, solving problems, teamwork and public speaking. The department also offers ethnic studies classes that meet a general education requirement, and its page links to degree information, course listings and featured events. Prospective students can speak with the department or a counselor to plan their coursework and confirm how credits transfer.
