BA/BS in Anthropology

Anthropology at Clemson is taught through the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice, and students may earn an arts or a science degree. The discipline connects the social sciences with the humanities and natural sciences, and its training is meant to help graduates remain flexible as workplaces change. Students practice weighing competing viewpoints and assessing evidence critically. Throughout the degree they develop research, analytical and writing skills through hands-on exercises, including writing about cultures, working with statistics and mapping with geographic information systems. Students are urged to lead on campus by carrying out their own research, presenting findings, and attending professional conferences. Anyone majoring in another subject can also take a minor in the field. Prospective students should review the official program pages for current details before applying.
