AA/AS in Computer Software and Media Applications

This Cuyamaca College program gives students the coding, programming and design skills used to create sites and apps that run on desktops and phones. Learners work with current web development technology and prepare for entry-level web developer jobs. Coursework covers databases, a two-course web development sequence and electives such as web animation. Outcomes focus on building attractive, usable, mobile-friendly sites with HTML and CSS, JavaScript, PHP with a database, plus frameworks and content management tools. The curriculum is revised regularly to keep pace with fast-changing industry trends. Students who finish only the major requirements may request a Certificate of Achievement in Web Development, while the associate degree adds general education. Students should meet with a counselor to confirm prerequisites, decide the order of classes and see how the units count toward other certificates or degrees at the college. Careful sequencing helps people finish in a reasonable time while balancing work and other commitments.
