Program details

Overview

This Associate of Science combines the general education core with an engineering emphasis. The sequence resembles the first two years at many engineering schools, so students can move on to specialize in fields such as civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical or petroleum engineering. Mathematics and physics prerequisites are sensitive to order, which is why the suggested course guideline should be followed closely. Students ready for calculus may begin directly there, while others are advised to take pre-calculus in the summer before fall. Outcomes include solving engineering problems with science and mathematics, running experiments and reporting results in writing. Transfer-bound students should check the requirements of their destination institution. Typical coursework follows a transfer-oriented schedule, so students should plan with an adviser and look closely at what their intended university will accept.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct enrollment in MATH 2413 Calculus I requires SAT II Math Level 1 560+, Level 2 520+ or ACT 28+; otherwise MATH 2412 Pre-Calculus is recommended.
