Overview
Cegep de La Pocatiere is a public general and vocational college (cegep) in Quebec's Bas-Saint-Laurent region, tracing its roots to the College de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatiere, founded in 1827, before the modern cegep was chartered in 1969 under Quebec's new collegial system.
The institution operates across three locations: its main campus in La Pocatiere, the Centre d'etudes collegiales de Montmagny, and a Temiscouata campus in Temiscouata-sur-le-Lac, extending collegial access across a large rural stretch of eastern Quebec. It offers pre-university diplomas in Sciences de la nature, Sciences humaines, and Arts, lettres et communication, alongside a distinctive slate of technical programs including nursing, bioecology, specialized education, physics engineering technology, computer science technology, and animal health technology.
Two of its technical programs are notably rare within Quebec's college network: Audioprothese, which trains licensed hearing-aid practitioners, and an Acupuncture program delivered in partnership with Cegep de Rosemont. Students benefit from applied laboratories, mandatory internships built into most technical curricula, research initiatives coordinated through the college's innovation office, and support services spanning academic advising, psychological counselling, and athletics.
Two affiliated foundations provide financial assistance and scholarships to students pursuing further study or entering the workforce directly after graduation.
