Booth University College's Personal Support Worker program prepares students to deliver direct, person-centred care to individuals in home, community, and long-term care settings. Coursework covers body systems and disorders, medication management, ethics and legislation, communication and documentation skills, mental health and dementia care, palliative and end-of-life care, and activities of daily living. The program is delivered entirely online, apart from the field hours required during the practicum. Full-time students complete the theoretical coursework first, then undertake a practicum that includes a 320-hour supervised student placement, following a cohort structure in which students progress through the courses together. The program leads to a certificate and is endorsed by the Canadian Support Workers Association (CANSWA). Admission requires a letter of introduction and intent along with a transcript, reference letters, or a resume, and proof of English proficiency for applicants whose first language is not English. Intake occurs in the Fall. The program does not make students eligible for a study permit.
