This Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies examines the systems and institutions that shape political life and how people work within and against them to bring about change, covering topics such as who holds power, how decisions are made, and what alternatives exist. Coursework draws on history, media, sociology, and ethics to analyze political institutions and connect classroom learning to current events and social movements. All students complete a work-integrated learning placement, gaining experience in areas such as advocacy, policy work, or electoral politics; CMU graduates are also noted as preferred candidates for the Manitoba Legislative Internship Program. Classes emphasize discussion and debate on history, identity, and institutions. The four-year degree is delivered at Canadian Mennonite University's campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and prepares graduates for further study or careers in government, advocacy, law, and public policy.
