General Studies is a 15-credit, non-honours Bachelor of Arts degree that can be completed entirely online, or through a mix of online and in-person courses. It allows students to engage with a broad range of ideas across the humanities, social sciences, and culture and communications, tailoring their studies by selecting from a wide variety of subject areas and hundreds of online and in-person courses, with the option to add a minor. In-person practicum and field courses provide opportunities to apply the knowledge gained through the degree in the workplace. The flexible, largely online structure is designed to suit students who need to study around other commitments. The program is offered at Carleton University. This flexible structure suits students balancing study with work, family, or other commitments.
