Overview
The Bachelor of Global and International Studies (BGInS) is an Honours undergraduate degree examining global and international issues through disciplines including political science, economics, history, and cultural studies. Students choose one of fourteen specializations, such as Global Development, Global Politics, and Global Law and Social Justice, combining a common core with concentration-specific coursework. The program requires proficiency in a second language, with options including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or American Sign Language. Students must also complete an international experience requirement, fulfilled through study abroad, an international internship, a course taken abroad, or a group project with an international dimension. A Co-op work-integrated learning option is available. Students have access to Ottawa's embassies, government departments, and non-governmental organizations for research, internship, and career opportunities. The Honours degree comprises 20.0 credits, normally completed over four years of full-time study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants require the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including a minimum of six Grade 12 4U or M courses, one of which must be a 4U course in English (or Français).
