Global Health is a concentration within Carleton University's Bachelor of Health Sciences (B.H.Sc.) Honours degree, offered by the Department of Health Sciences. It covers the biological, psychological, and social knowledge needed to address health issues affecting world populations, including globalization, climate change, infectious disease, and the social and political factors that shape healthcare delivery. Students complete a shared Health Sciences core (including fundamentals of health, health research methods, epidemiology, and immunity) plus concentration electives, with opportunities for a capstone group research project, field placement and research project, or an honours individual research thesis. Some students complete paid summer research internships. Entry to the concentration is not available directly from high school: students are admitted to the B.H.Sc. (Honours) first year and register in the Global Health concentration before second year. The Honours degree totals 20.0 credits, normally completed over four years of full-time study.
