The Master of Infrastructure Protection and International Security (MIPIS) at Carleton University is a multidisciplinary, course-based program that combines the principles of critical infrastructure engineering and multi-hazard threat risk assessment with an understanding of the policy framework and options available to security practitioners. The program aims to prepare graduates to contribute to multidisciplinary teams that deliver robust, cost-effective, and socially responsible solutions for safe and resilient national critical infrastructure systems. Based in Ottawa, the National Capital Region hub for Canada's critical infrastructure policy and program direction, students have access to government officials and leaders from private industry and non-governmental organizations. A Collaborative Specialization in Cybersecurity is available, and a co-op option provides experiential learning. The program is delivered in person over a nominal two years of full-time study with a Fall intake. Graduates find employment in government departments and across Canada's national critical infrastructure sectors, including energy, transportation, IT and telecommunications, health, finance, and safety.
