Program details

Overview

Health Throughout the Lifespan is a concentration within Carleton University's Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) program, part of the Faculty of Science. The concentration covers health across human life stages, from neonatal development to old age. Coursework examines biological aging, how early-life events influence later-life conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and depression, the biomedical bases of health and disease, and the influence of gender and social conditions on health outcomes. Students complete a capstone project involving a research field placement, and may take part in paid summer research internships. The concentration is selected after the first year of the BHSc program and combines coursework in human biology and population health with applied research experience, preparing graduates for further study or careers in health research and related health fields.
