Overview

This program leads to a Bachelor of Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics, delivered in Ottawa. Coursework trains students to plan data collection methods, analyze data, and interpret and communicate the limitations of statistical results in the presence of uncertainty. Honours students receive a grounding in the theoretical dimensions of statistics needed for advanced study and can pursue a concentration in Actuarial Science; a minor in Statistics is also available to students in other programs. A paid Co-op option lets students gain workplace experience, explore career options and build employability skills alongside coursework. The program suits students aiming for careers as statisticians or data scientists, or pursuing further graduate study in statistics or actuarial science, and it is offered separately from Carleton's other Mathematics and Statistics degree options.
