Diploma in Technologie du génie physique is a diploma in Engineering Physics programme taught at Cégep André Laurendeau in Montréal, Canada. The programme runs for 3 years. Teaching is in French. Tuition for international students is CAD 19,610 per year (CAD 3,740 per year for local students).
Technologie du génie physique is a technical DEC (244.A0) at Cégep André-Laurendeau that applies physics, electronics, and programming to research and product development. Students learn to work with acoustics, vacuum techniques, lasers, fibre optics, and materials testing; use sensors, electronic components, and circuit-design software; program microcontrollers using languages such as C and LabVIEW; automate testing of new materials and devices; build prototypes; and fabricate micro and nano components in a cleanroom. The program is offered in an alternance travail-études format and has a DEC-BAC arrangement with certain universities. The department describes itself as the only one offering this program among French-language cégeps on the island of Montreal, with exclusive coursework in lasers, fibre optics, mechatronics, artificial intelligence, acoustics, and vacuum techniques, and specialized facilities including a fibre-optics lab, a photonics lab, high-vacuum setups, a microfabrication cleanroom, an anechoic chamber, and software such as Arduino, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, Multisim, and Ultiboard. Graduates work in high-technology production (lasers, fibre optics, machine-vision cameras, medical and robotic systems) and in public, private, and university research labs such as INRS and Hydro-Québec's IREQ, and the DEC gives access, with credited coursework and in some cases additional prerequisites, to engineering programs at ÉTS, Polytechnique Montréal, Université Laval, and Université de Sherbrooke. It suits students who want a hands-on, lab-based route into engineering or applied-physics research.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Prerequisites (préalables), exactly as published on the program's own page: DES + TS 5e, or SN 5e + STE 4e, or ATS 4e + SE 4e; alternatively DES + Mathématiques 526 + Physique 534. A remedial STE-4e course is offered at the college for Tremplin DEC students who need it. No minimum grade, interview, portfolio, or language test beyond the general Quebec-college process is stated on the program page. Admission follows the college's general process: apply online through the Service régional d'admission du Montréal métropolitain (SRAM) at admission.sram.qc.ca, which handles admission for every Montreal-area Cégep, with the college making the final decision. First-round deadlines are 1 March for Fall (applications open mid-January) and 1 November for Winter (applications open mid-September); where more qualified applicants apply than there are seats, the Cote R (R-score), based on cumulative average, ministerial-exam results and program prerequisites, ranks candidates.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through SRAM: Fall 2027 entry opens mid-January 2027 with a first-round deadline of 1 March 2027; Winter 2027 entry opens mid-September 2026 (SRAM: 15 September 2026) with a deadline of 1 November 2026. International applicants also use SRAM: the Fall 2027 deadline is 14 March 2027; the Winter 2027 international window already closed 31 May 2026, so the live one is Winter 2028 entry, closing 31 May 2027. Only a handful of technical programmes (Soins infirmiers, Techniques d'éducation à l'enfance, Techniques de travail social, Gestion des opérations et de la chaîne logistique, and one more) admit international students. Admission is not rolling beyond SRAM's rounds. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
