Overview
The AEC Architecture et construction de bâtiments (EEC.2N) is an Attestation d'études collégiales offered by Cégep André-Laurendeau's continuing education division. The programme runs 810 hours, about one year including a three-week work placement, delivered in a hybrid format with most instruction in person. Students learn to inspect architectural works and apply Quebec's construction laws and regulations, including building codes, the civil code, municipal zoning and environmental legislation, while working within teams from technical design through to construction follow-up. The curriculum covers information technology tools, mathematics applied to building architecture, professional interaction, architectural drafting (basic and advanced), construction regulation, wood-frame construction, concrete and steel framing, and building systems such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, electricity and lighting. Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) or Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) or equivalent, plus training or work experience in architecture or a related field judged sufficient by the college. Applicants must have completed Mathématiques 436 (TS or SN, 4th/5th secondary) and Sciences physiques 436 (ST and STE, or ATS and SE, 4th secondary). A mandatory French test, taken remotely, is required unless the applicant studied in French in Quebec or France, and a mandatory in-person mathematics test must also be passed. Applicants who studied outside Canada must submit a comparative evaluation of studies from the ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles confirming study in a field related to architecture.
