Program details
Overview
This program provides combined artistic and technical training in illustration, covering both traditional and digital techniques and helping students develop a personal visual style. Coursework emphasizes visual storytelling and concept art, including designing characters, environments, and moods, alongside client-facing skills such as interpreting briefs and adapting to different styles and aesthetics. Instructors are drawn from the professional arts industry, and the program includes collaborative projects, international-experience options, and a paid work-study (alternance travail-études) placement. Described by the cégep as the only French-language program of its kind in Quebec, it leads to a three-year Diploma of College Studies (DEC). Graduates find work in animation studios, film and television studios, video-game design studios, advertising agencies, publishing, and printing and comics, and the program also prepares students for university studies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need a DES, a DEP, training judged equivalent by the cégep, or at least 24 cumulative months of interrupted full-time study with sufficient training and experience. DEP holders must also have passed Secondary 5 language of instruction, Secondary 5 second language, and Secondary 4 mathematics. The program has limited places and selects candidates using a portfolio, a letter of intent, an invitation-only drawing exercise, and the applicant's SRACQ ranking score (cote de rendement).
