Building Engineering Technology (Building Mechanics) is a three-year technical diploma (DEC) training students to solve technical building problems, and to design and produce plans and specifications for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and fire-protection systems. The programme also covers managing and estimating construction-project costs, and optimizing and managing the energy use and maintenance of building systems. Students are involved in all stages of a building's life cycle, from design through construction to operation, using a 1,000-square-metre laboratory equipped with more than 50 mechanical systems, alongside project-based learning, industry collaborations, and site visits. Graduates receive a Diplome d'etudes collegiales qualifying them to work as building engineering technologists. The programme is delivered over three years of full-time study, with the share of hands-on, practical work increasing relative to classroom instruction from the first to the third year.
