Program details

Overview

Techniques de laboratoire, specialization in Biotechnologies (Biology-Chemistry), is a technical DEC delivered in a dedicated pavilion with modern laboratories and equipment aligned with current industry needs, alongside professional laboratory software. Teaching is provided by a multidisciplinary team of professors and technicians across biology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, mathematics, animal health, and biomedical analysis, together with professor-researchers in the agri-food and materials fields; one course, on animals in biomedical research, is taught in a laboratory at the Université de Montréal's veterinary faculty. Classes favour small-group work to support laboratory learning. From the first term, students complete a short observation placement (microstage) in a government, industrial, or university laboratory, and take part in field outings during sampling campaigns. Students can also pursue work-study (alternance travail-études) placements during the program and an international placement, and the program concludes with a company-based placement in the final term. It suits students interested in laboratory science across biology and chemistry who want a technical credential built around hands-on lab work, industry-aligned equipment, and a progression of placements from early observation to a final workplace placement.
