Cybersecurity and Cloud Security (AEC) is an Attestation of College Studies offered online by Cégep de Sherbrooke's Centre de formation continue, on a part-time evening schedule (Tuesday and Thursday) over 24 months (540 hours). Described by the college as one of the first collegiate programs of its kind, it covers identifying and protecting computer systems, detecting security threats, responding to security incidents, managing access controls, identifying risk, monitoring systems, and recovering data after an incident. The program builds on prior computing knowledge and is aimed at IT practitioners seeking to specialize in security and cloud-security functions rather than at students with no computing background. On completion, graduates are prepared to take on security-focused roles within IT departments or as consultants, applying threat-detection, incident-response, and access-management practices. The AEC is a workforce-oriented continuing-education credential rather than a diploma of college studies (DEC), and admission is processed through the Centre de formation continue.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants must satisfy Cégep de Sherbrooke's general AEC admission conditions, hold a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or training judged sufficient, and hold either a Diploma of College Studies (DEC) in Computer Science Techniques, an AEC in Computer Network Management, or equivalent experience in IT network management. Applicants whose prior studies were not conducted in French or at a Francophone Canadian institution must pass a French-language proficiency test. A curriculum vitae and a letter of motivation are required with the application. A non-refundable $30 CAD admission and file-analysis fee applies; tuition depends on the applicant's status and was not published as a fixed figure at the time of review.
