Program details

Overview

Science, Computer Science and Mathematics is a pre-university Diploma of College Studies (DEC, 200.C1) offered at Cegep Limoilou. The program builds competency in mathematics and physics, introduces the fundamentals of chemistry, and develops a solid grounding in computer programming. Students work on projects that apply these skills, culminating in the design of a software solution tied to a scientific or technological problem of their choosing. An optional international study trip through the college's Projet Monde initiative is also available. The program suits students who want to work alongside peers with an interest in science and technology, explore how algorithms function, design software to address scientific or technical challenges, and take on hands-on projects that move from research to implementation. It is intended as preparation for university programs in engineering and computer science, where the programming skills developed alongside the science and mathematics coursework give students an applied foundation they can carry directly into further technical study, distinguishing this DEC from the more general Natural Sciences profile offered at the same college.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to Science, Computer Science and Mathematics (Sciences, informatique et mathématique, 200.C1) requires Cégep Limoilou's general DEC conditions (Quebec DES, or DEP plus Secondary 4 Mathematics, Secondary 5 English and Secondary 5 French, or equivalent training or experience) plus specific Secondary 5 course prerequisites: Mathematics TS (Technical and Scientific) or SN (Natural Sciences), Chemistry, and Physics, all at the Secondary 5 level. Applicants who completed their studies under the former curriculum should consult the equivalency table on the Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec (SRACQ) site for the matching prerequisites. No English or French language test, minimum grade average, portfolio or interview is stated on the programme page beyond these course prerequisites; applicants missing at most one required subject may still apply and complete it during their first college session.

Application Details

Start Date: September and January
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (Service regional d'admission au college de Quebec) at sracq.qc.ca: for the Fall 2027 (August) intake the college runs four admission rounds closing 1 March, 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027, each later round admitting only while seats remain, and for Winter 2027 (January) entry - offered on every DEC programme except Nursing - rounds close around 1 November, 1 December 2026 and early January 2027 (the site states only that round-3 course confirmation and fee payment are due 13 January 2027, not the application deadline itself, so an exact round-3 cut-off date cannot be quoted). International applicants of any nationality must submit their DEC application by 1 February 2027 for the August 2027 intake; the Cegep publishes no separate deadline for a January start. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
