Overview
Techniques de design de produits, profil Design industriel (570.C0) is a three-year technical DEC offered at the Cégep de Lanaudière's Terrebonne campus, with fall admission, a DEC-BAC pathway, openness to international students and an optional laptop-based ('DEC portable') delivery with affordable rental laptops. The program trains students to become industrial designers able to draw, model and present industrial products, taking into account user needs, technical constraints, environmental standards and market trends. Students learn to communicate product ideas through hand and computer-aided drawing, to work with wood, metal, plastics and composites, to understand how everyday products function, and to develop products with attention to ergonomics, comfort, health, the environment, client needs, brand image and marketing. The program includes a sixth-session synthesis project carried out in collaboration with a manufacturing company, and the page notes that the Terrebonne campus is the only institution on Montreal's North Shore to offer this program. Admission Requirements: The programme page states only that admission follows the general admission conditions of Cégep régional de Lanaudière, without listing further programme-specific prerequisites. This programme additionally requires Mathématiques CST at the Secondary 4 level (code 436) and a Secondary 4 science course (ST or ATS pathway), or Physique 534 as an equivalent. Under those conditions, domestic applicants need a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) or a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) plus three specific courses — langue d'enseignement de 5e secondaire, langue seconde de 5e secondaire and mathématiques de 4e secondaire — or, for applicants who have interrupted full-time study for at least 24 consecutive months, training and experience the college judges sufficient. Applications go only through admission.sram.qc.ca, for a non-refundable CAD 30 fee; for Fall 2026 the college lists three rounds, the first-round deadline falling on 1 March 2026. International applicants use the same SRAM portal, and must submit a French-language test accepted by SRAM (waived only for applicants from France) before an admission letter, CAQ and study permit can follow.
