Overview
Techniques d'éducation à l'enfance is an AEC (Attestation d'études collégiales) programme that prepares students to work as early-childhood educators. Coursework covers the overall development of children aged 0 to 12, planning and leading educational activities, organizing a safe and stimulating physical and pedagogical childcare environment, supporting children's development and integration, basic care and safety, and building professional relationships with parents, staff, and partner organizations, including resource management for a childcare service. The programme is delivered full-time at the Saint-Jean and Brossard campuses, over 18 months. Applicants must be 18 years old on the first day of the programme. Graduates are prepared to work as early-childhood educators or childcare-group supervisors in daycare centres (CPE), private and subsidized daycares, and home-based childcare settings. International students are not admitted to this programme.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Techniques d'éducation à l'enfance (AEC). Applicants must be 18 years old on the first day of the programme and hold a Diplôme d'études secondaires (DES) or equivalent, a Diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP), an Attestation d'équivalence de niveau secondaire (AENS), or equivalent secondary-level training supplemented by relevant academic, extracurricular, or experiential learning. Applicants must also meet one of: an interruption of full-time studies, at least two consecutive sessions or one year of full-time postsecondary study, an agreement between the Cégep and an employer or a government programme, or holding a DEP. Applicants whose mother tongue or prior instruction was not French must pass a written French test. Admission is processed through the SRAM and includes a validation interview. This programme is not open to international students.
