Diploma in Education Profile in Social Science

Education Profile in Social Science is a two-year pre-university Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) offered at Champlain College Saint-Lambert, intended for students considering a career in teaching or other education-related fields. The program examines schools and teaching from multiple perspectives, including how education connects to the broader labour force, classroom and student-teacher dynamics, and student psychological development, alongside social issues such as racism and sexism and their impact on students and schools. It builds a grounding in the social-science disciplines relevant to education, specifically anthropology, psychology, and sociology, and includes two fieldwork courses. The program goal is to develop knowledge and critical thinking about the development and education of children and to examine the challenges and opportunities of the teaching field.
