The Diploma in Educational Studies is a 90-credit-unit credential offered through the University of Saskatchewan's College of Education, intended as an exit option rather than a program students apply to directly. Students already enrolled in a Bachelor of Education degree route who reach Year 3 are offered the chance to transfer into the diploma instead of continuing to the full degree. Of the 90 credit units, 84 come from the Bachelor of Education pathway already completed, with the remaining six credit units chosen as electives from education subject areas such as administration, curriculum, foundational studies, music education, educational psychology and special education, or educational technology. The diploma does not carry a separate application or admission process, since it is reached through transfer from within the existing degree program. It suits students who began a Bachelor of Education but decide, partway through, that a shorter educational credential better fits their goals or circumstances than completing the full degree.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Students are not required to apply for this diploma program. Undergraduate students enrolled in Year 3 of a Bachelor of Education program route will be given the opportunity to transfer into the Diploma in Educational Studies. Candidates must complete 84 credit units from the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) program route in which the student was previously enrolled, plus 6 credit units of Education Electives.
Application Details
Application Deadline:The University of Saskatchewan does not publish fixed general application deadlines for its direct-entry undergraduate colleges (Agriculture and Bioresources, Arts and Science, Education, Edwards School of Business, Engineering, Kinesiology, Dental Hygiene, Dental Therapy): admission requirements and deadlines for the 2027-28 cycle become available only once applications open on 25 September 2026, and the site gives no separate international closing date. Non-direct professional programs set their own dates instead: for September 2027 entry, the College of Law's JD opens 15 October 2026 with rolling review to a 1 February 2027 documents deadline and is not currently accepting international applicants; the College of Medicine's MD applications close 1 October 2026 for domestic (Canadian citizen/PR) applicants only; and the Nutrition program's single deadline is 15 March 2027 for both domestic and international applicants, with no late applications considered. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
