Program details

Overview

Soins infirmiers (Nursing, DEC 180.A0) is a three-year technical diploma offered at Champlain College Lennoxville and Champlain College Saint-Lambert. The program combines classroom instruction in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and specialized nursing topics with laboratory practice and clinical placements in hospitals and health centres, covering rotations across settings such as emergency, medical-surgical, pediatric, maternity, geriatric, psychiatric and community care. The final semester consolidates theoretical and practical learning ahead of the program's comprehensive assessment. Graduates receive a Diplôme d'études collégiales and are eligible to sit the licensing examination administered by the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec to practise as a registered nurse; both campuses also offer a DEC-BAC continuation into a university nursing degree, with Lennoxville's partnering with Université de Sherbrooke. Entry requires science prerequisites, including chemistry. The program suits students who are caring, organized and drawn to bilingual patient care, and who want a direct path into clinical nursing practice within the Quebec health system, with the option of continuing to a bachelor's degree without repeating coursework.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to Nursing (180.A0) at Champlain College Lennoxville requires Chemistry 551504, Chemistry 534 or an equivalent, plus Physical Science 436, or Science and Technology (555404 and 558404), or (557406 and 558402); applicants may instead take Chemistry during the program's first year at New Horizons Adult Education Centre and be placed on a four-year progression grid. The program's own page states no admission-specific language test; general Lennoxville requirements apply otherwise, from Champlain Regional College's Fees and Admission Requirements page: a Secondary School Diploma (DES) or equivalent DEP, application through SRAM ($30.00 fee, $10.00 if late), and, for international applicants who attended schooling systems outside Canada, proof from Quebec's Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion (MIDI) or SRAM that their studies are equivalent to the Quebec Secondary V Diploma; the page states no English or French proficiency test requirement. Nursing is a high-demand program assessed on academic performance. Students must be up to date on vaccinations required for certain hospital placements and purchase an OIIQ licence in their first semester. The Fall-semester application deadline is March 1st.

Application Details

Start Date: Fall
Application Deadline: Applications to Champlain College-Lennoxville go through the Service regional d'admission du Montreal metropolitain (SRAM). First-round deadlines for Fall 2027 entry are 1 March 2027 for Quebec and Canadian applicants and 15 March 2027 for international applicants; for Winter 2027 entry the first-round deadlines are 1 November 2026 domestically and 1 June 2026 for international applicants, the latter already past by this fetch date. Missing the first round is not final: SRAM opens second and third rounds with remaining seats, though spaces are very limited, and round-one decisions become available from 2 April. Admission therefore runs through successive SRAM rounds rather than a single hard cutoff, so later applicants are still considered while seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
