Overview

The Baccalauréat en sciences de l'informatique is a general (non-honours) computer science bachelor's degree at Collège Boréal, completed over three years across seven in-person semesters. Coursework combines mathematics foundations, including linear algebra and differential and integral calculus, with statistics for data science, software engineering, programming languages, database administration and management, operating systems, networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity and IT service management. The program includes a paid internship that lets students apply classroom learning in a real workplace setting before graduation. It is designed to prepare graduates for a range of information technology roles rather than a single specialization, spanning software development, network administration, database analysis, cybersecurity and systems design. This shorter, general bachelor's track suits students who want a direct three-year route into IT careers or further study, distinct from the college's four-year specialized (honours) computer science bachelor's degree, which adds an extra year of advanced theory and a capstone research project.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Direct entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (DESO) or equivalent, including Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), a Grade 12 French course (FRA4U or FRA4M), two mathematics courses at the 3U/M or 4U/M level (or one 3U/M/4U/M mathematics course plus Physics SPH4U), and two further U or M elective courses. No minimum admission average is published for this programme. Applicants who do not hold the DESO, or its English-language credit, must submit an English-language proficiency result before admission; the programme page does not restate a score, so the college's own admission-requirements table applies: Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 6 / CEFR B2, met by IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT/Essentials 60, or PTE Academic 40; the requirement is waived if the DESO is completed before classes begin. As at all Collège Boréal programmes, applicants whose secondary or postsecondary studies were not completed entirely in a francophone system must also meet the college's own French-language requirement: a TFEA (Boréal's internal test) score of 70%, Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 6-7, DELF/DALF level B2 (or C1/C2 DALF), TFI level B2 (score of 650), TEF level B2 (niveau 6), or TCF level B2 (niveau 4, score 400-499); those schooled entirely in French are exempt.
