Heavy Equipment Mechanics is a certificate program offered by CCNB that prepares students to maintain and repair heavy machinery such as bulldozers, loaders, dump trucks, graders, skidders, and delimbers. Students learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and fuel-system faults, disassemble and reassemble components, repair or replace defective parts, and make the adjustments needed to return equipment to service. The 37-week program, delivered at the Bathurst campus, includes an industrial work placement. Graduates typically work as heavy equipment mechanics, with paths toward specializing by machine type, engine tuning, or electronic systems, and toward supervisory roles with experience. It suits students who enjoy manual work on heavy machinery, like taking things apart to understand how they work, solve practical problems methodically, and want the independence of diagnosing and fixing equipment themselves.
