Cert in Medical Laboratory Assistance

Medical Laboratory Assistance is a certificate program offered by the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) that trains students to work as medical laboratory assistants supporting the diagnostic work of laboratory technologists and physicians. Coursework covers blood sample collection through phlebotomy, specimen and material handling, and the application of rigorous quality-control protocols that ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory analyses. Students learn the procedures used in processing and preparing samples for testing, working within the standards expected in hospital, clinic, and private-laboratory settings. The program totals 30 weeks of training, including a workplace practicum that gives students hands-on experience in a real laboratory environment. It is offered at the Edmundston campus. Graduates take on assistant roles within medical laboratories, supporting the technical staff responsible for running and verifying test results.
