The Emergency Medical Responder certificate prepares students to provide entry-level medical and trauma care in emergency medical services, industrial, and other health service settings. The program combines online theoretical coursework with in-person laboratory weeks and a clinical practicum, delivered over 20 weeks at the Lac La Biche campus. Coursework covers patient assessment, basic life support, trauma management, and emergency response procedures required of an Emergency Medical Responder. Students must hold current First Aid and Basic Life Support certification, a valid Alberta driver's license, and complete required police and immunization checks before starting clinical placements. Graduates are prepared to work as Emergency Medical Responders in ambulance services, industrial sites, and other frontline health settings.
