Overview
Techniques policières (310.A0) is a six-term technical program at Collège de Maisonneuve leading to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC); the college is the only cégep in eastern Montreal to offer it, and the program is designed to prepare graduates for admission to the École nationale de police du Québec. Students develop the skills and attitudes associated with policing work, learn to adapt to a range of situations within a legal framework while applying problem-solving processes, take part in the Alco-prévention impaired-driving awareness and screening initiative, and work alongside security agents during special events. The program includes credited placements and field experience: patrol ride-alongs with active police officers, community-involvement hours, analysis of a real problem situation submitted by a local police station, and visits to the École nationale de police du Québec, police stations, and community resources. It also includes an intercultural component, with placements, credited projects, and a dedicated course through which students engage with Indigenous and other communities to better understand the challenges they face. The program is intended for students who show adaptability, sound judgment, and strong communication skills, and it suits those planning a career in law enforcement or community-oriented public safety work.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Techniques policières (DEC), 6 sessions. Préalable exigé: Mathématiques Culture, société et technique (CST) de 4e secondaire, ou Mathématiques 514. Environ 240 candidatures sont présélectionnées sur le dossier scolaire et convoquées par courriel à des tests de la condition physique; une importance particulière est accordée au français et aux mathématiques de 4e et 5e secondaire, et au dossier collégial complet pour qui a déjà entrepris des études collégiales. L'admission se fait par le SRAM.
