Veterinary Technician is a two-year diploma at College of the North Atlantic that trains students in anesthesia, pharmacology, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, surgical assistance, and veterinary nursing across companion animals, horses, cattle, birds, and exotic species. The program is delivered on-campus at the Prince Philip Drive campus through the School of Health Sciences and holds provisional accreditation from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association until March 2028. Admission requires a High School Graduation Certificate with a 60 percent overall average including English, Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry credits, a College Transition Certificate, or Adult Basic Education (Level III) graduation with the Degree and Technical Profile. Volunteer or work experience with animals is preferred and considered in competitive ranking, and accepted students must complete a criminal record screening and provide proof of a three-step rabies vaccine series and tetanus immunization. The program begins each September.

Volunteer or work experience with animals is preferred, though not required, and is considered in competitive ranking. Accepted applicants must complete a Criminal Record Screening/Check and provide proof of a three-step rabies vaccine series and tetanus (Td) immunization. Applicants whose first language is not English must present an IELTS Academic Test overall band score of 7.0, with a minimum of 7.0 in Speaking, 7.5 in Listening, 6.5 in Reading, and 7.0 in Writing.
