This four-year honours bachelor's degree at Conestoga College prepares students for careers in the financial services sector, covering banking, insurance, investment management, and estate and financial planning. Early terms build foundational business and financial-analysis skills; partway through the program students choose a major track in either financial planning or property and casualty insurance, after which coursework blends technical analysis with professional communication and client-service skills. The curriculum is structured to satisfy prerequisite conditions for several industry credentials, including the Personal Financial Planner designation from the Canadian Securities Institute, the Qualified Associate Financial Planner and Certified Financial Planner certifications from FP Canada, and the Chartered Insurance Professional designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada. The program includes a full-time, paid co-op work term positioned between the third and fourth years, giving students applied industry experience before graduation. Graduates of Conestoga's Business Administration - Financial Planning advanced diploma can enter directly into the third year with advanced standing. The degree suits students who want a client-facing, credential-oriented career in banking, insurance or financial planning and are comfortable pairing quantitative analysis with relationship-based advisory work.
