Overview
Complete OYAP Cook Level I at Durham College in high school to receive advanced standing and reduce your time in the Culinary Management diploma program. Qualified OYAP students enter an accelerated stream of the Culinary Management program at Durham College and complete their diploma in only three semesters. Spend more time in the kitchen with small class sizes and expert instructors, allowing for strong skill development and mentorship opportunities. Develop a broad culinary skill set, including preparation and discovery of locally grown food; cultural, classical and contemporary cuisine; hospitality and business skills; strategies for planning, building, promoting and running a food business; and more.

Admission Requirements: This accelerated stream is restricted to students who completed the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program's Cook Level I qualification at Durham College during high school, with a minimum grade of 70 per cent across its component courses: Workplace and Food Safety Practices, Nutrition Basic, Culinary Business, Food Theory Basic, Culinary Techniques, Bake Theory, and Baking Techniques Basic. Applicants must also hold an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or Mature Student Status, plus Grade 12 English at the C or U level. International and non-native-English-speaking applicants must meet Durham College's general English Language Proficiency Policy: IELTS Academic 6.0 with no band below 5.5, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 22, PTE Academic 53 with no section below 49, CAEL 60 overall, or Duolingo English Test 110. Qualifying students receive advanced standing and complete the Culinary Management diploma in three semesters instead of the standard length.

International applicants apply directly to Durham, not through ontariocolleges.ca, and are assessed on a rolling basis against each program's published intake availability; Durham publishes no fixed international closing date.
