Overview
This four-year honours degree builds theoretical and practical skills in molecular biology, alongside the interdisciplinary subject background that underlies biotechnology. Students learn accepted laboratory practices, help design sound experimental and laboratory management procedures, and apply bio-processing methods in both laboratory and industrial settings, guided throughout by principles of good data management and awareness of relevant regulatory and ethical requirements. Coursework also builds interpersonal, analytical and communication skills through teamwork, assignments and case situations, develops respect for diverse social, political, cultural and ethical contexts, and encourages planning for lifelong learning to keep pace with professional and technological change.
