1. examine biological concepts, processes and systems of the human body, including genetics and epigenetics, as well as the structure, function and properties of the molecules of life, cells, tissues and organ systems in relation to homeostasis, physical development and health.2. examine concepts, processes and systems of chemistry, including atomic and molecular structure; quantities in chemical reactions; solutions and solubility; acids and bases; as well as organic chemistry and biochemistry in relation to health and the human body.3. solve numeric problems and interpret data related to health sciences and other science-related fields using mathematical concepts, including algebra and probability, along with descriptive and inferential statistics.4. use health sciences and other science-related language and terminology appropriately to communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly in written, spoken, and visual forms.5. prepare a personal strategy and plan for academic, career and professional development in the health sciences or other science-related fields.6. investigate health sciences and science-related questions, problems and evidence using the scientific method.Physics (Optional):7. examine fundamental physics laws and concepts and their application to health sciences and other science-related fields.

Admission Requirements: The preparatory route into Fanshawe's competitive health programs. Entry needs an OSSD, an equivalent, or mature-applicant status with Grade 12 English (C or U); Grade 12 Math (C or U) or Grade 11 Math (U or M, with college-level Grade 11 math not accepted); and one science from Grade 11 or 12 Biology, Chemistry or Physics, or Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (U). College-level courses and Grade 11 math at any level need at least 65%. Fanshawe recommends Grade 12 U-level math and says a college-level Grade 12 math is accepted above 65%, with MCT4C the suggested choice. Two conditional-offer rules matter: to keep a conditional place in the Western-Fanshawe collaborative nursing degree you must pass every course here with at least a B by 30 April, and to keep a conditional place in a Fanshawe health-career program you must graduate with at least a 3.0 GPA by 30 April and also meet that program's own course minimums. English at certificate and diploma level: IELTS 6.0 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 79 pre-2026 (4.5 overall on the 2026 scale), PTE 53 with no band under 45, CAEL 60 with 50 per band and 80 in listening, Duolingo 105, Cambridge English 169, LanguageCert 65. Selection: preference for Ontario permanent residents, application received by 1 February, then achievement in the requirements. Completing this program does not guarantee later admission to any health-career program; it only earns additional consideration.
