Trades - Apprenticeship in Automotive Service Technician (Day Release)

Automotive Service Technician (Day Release) is a two-year Ontario College Certificate apprenticeship offered by Fanshawe College, combining employer-based work experience with day-release classroom instruction. Apprentices learn to diagnose, repair and maintain vehicle engines, with opportunities to specialize in areas such as engines and fuel systems, electrical and electronic systems, suspension, or brakes, applying their learning to real vehicles as part of the apprenticeship under the supervision of their sponsoring employer. Admission is not through ontariocolleges.ca: applicants must first secure a sponsor/employer in the automotive service technician trade, then complete a registered training agreement through Skilled Trades Ontario before selecting Fanshawe for their classroom training. Graduates work as licensed automotive service technicians in dealerships, independent repair shops and fleet service operations.
