Overview

This is a 30-credit, 10-course undergraduate certificate in accounting at HEC Montréal, covering accounting principles, general accounting work, and financial information analysis. Seven required courses (21 credits) build on two foundation courses (6 credits), covering topics such as reading financial statements and management information systems. Instruction is in French, delivered in-person and hybrid formats, mainly in evening and weekend sessions with some daytime offerings, and can be completed full-time or part-time. Graduates can move into entry-level accounting roles such as accounting clerk, accounting operations agent, or administrative technician, and the certificate can be combined with another HEC Montréal certificate and a University of Montreal program toward a baccalauréat par cumul. The certificate does not qualify graduates for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Applicants must meet one of the following: hold a Quebec Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC); have completed 30 university-level credits in a program (minor, major, certificate, or bachelor's degree); or have four years of full-time work experience (internships excluded, counted from age 18, in any sector, including experience acquired abroad). Applicants must have an intermediate-advanced level of French, demonstrated through their educational background or a recognized French test; those below that level must complete language courses.
