Overview

This 90-credit doctoral programme trains researchers able to address multidisciplinary problems in water resources and aquatic ecosystems, an area the programme describes as requiring the combined input of several scientific disciplines and a genuinely integrated approach to resolve. Students carry out original thesis research within experienced teams, on projects that have included electrolytic techniques for wastewater treatment and the effects of climate change on Arctic lakes. The 90 credits comprise six elective credits, a 78-credit thesis, and six credits for the doctoral examination. The programme is offered on a full-time or part-time basis, and it leads to the degree of Philosophiae doctor (Ph.D.). Before admission, a candidate must demonstrate a strong academic record, a research orientation matching the programme's objectives, and the capacity to conduct quality research, and must secure the agreement of a research director. Admission is possible in the fall, winter, or summer term.
