Power Engineering: 3rd Class Certificate

The Power Engineering: 3rd Class Certificate is a self-paced, online program delivered through Keyano College's iLearn (Moodle) platform, building on 4th Class Power Engineering knowledge. Using a structured workbook and textbook, students complete Part A (Applied Science and Plant Services) and Part B (Steam Generation and Prime Movers and Auxiliaries) course content, testing their knowledge through online chapter quizzes and supervised examinations completed at a certified testing facility. Students have six months from the start of the program to complete Part A theory and six months to complete Part B theory, with new starts available on the first of every month. Evening tutorial assistance from qualified instructors is available twice weekly. Admission requires an Alberta Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate; students who successfully complete Keyano College's 3rd Class Part A and B theory with six months of steam time may receive ABSA credit. Graduates achieving a minimum of 65% in each course are eligible to write the Alberta Boiler Safety Association's Interprovincial Third Class examination.
