Program details
Overview
Langara College's English Associate of Arts Degree is a university-transfer credential built around literature, academic writing, creative writing, communications, and English language preparation courses. The Department of English includes published authors teaching in both academic and creative areas, and the program emphasizes small class sizes and individual attention. It has open enrolment and takes a minimum of two years to complete on a full-time or part-time basis, with intakes in September, January, and May. Coursework is designed to transfer into second- and third-year English and related humanities programs at universities such as SFU, UBC, and UVic. Alongside this degree, the department also offers a separate Associate of Arts in Creative Writing for students who want to focus specifically on creative genres. Graduates typically continue into a four-year English or humanities degree, or apply their reading, writing, and analytical skills to fields such as publishing, education, or communications.
