Program details
Overview
Gerontology at Laurentian University is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts program examining the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of aging, with emphasis on the lived experiences of older adults and their families. The program covers person-centred approaches to supporting autonomy and engagement for older adults across healthcare and community settings. It is delivered entirely online, allowing students to study from anywhere in Canada through a self-paced format built around instructional modules, case studies, and discussion forums rather than scheduled lectures. Students can pursue the credential as a three-year or four-year Bachelor of Arts degree, or as a major, minor, concentration, or certificate. Coursework addresses aging processes, health and social policy, and community-based care for older populations. Graduates pursue careers in healthcare, community and social services, long-term care, and other fields serving older adults.
