The PhD in Biomolecular Sciences at Laurentian University provides academic and research training for careers in academic research and teaching as well as the biotechnology, biomedical, and pharmaceutical industries. Students choose between two fields of study: Cell Regulation, or Structure and Function of Biomolecules. The program is research-intensive, involving advanced independent research, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications, supported by small classes and research groups. Students are expected to complete the degree within four years of entry, to a maximum of six years, and admission is conditional on securing a faculty member's consent to supervise the research. Graduate Teaching Assistantships are available on a paid basis. The program is delivered on campus. The two program fields allow students to align their research either with cellular regulatory mechanisms or with the structural and functional study of biomolecules.
