Overview
The PhD in Boreal Ecology at Laurentian University studies the interactions between organisms and their environment within the Boreal Shield and Boreal Forest biome. Students choose one of three fields: Stressed Aquatic Ecosystems, Sustainable Terrestrial Ecosystems, or Conservation and Restoration Ecology. The program is research-intensive and collaborative, drawing on partnerships with local, Canadian, and international collaborators, and is supported by small classes and research groups. Students typically take two graduate courses in their first year and must successfully complete a Comprehensive Examination within the first 18 months.
