The Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmacology is offered by the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences. The research-intensive program trains students to conduct an original research project, analyze data, and write a thesis, with coursework in research professionalism and scientific communication. Students may also pursue an Environmental Health Sciences option, which adds a focus on exposure sciences, hazard screening, epidemiological approaches, and environmental health policy. Faculty specialties include neuropharmacology, reproductive and endocrine pharmacology, receptor and cardiovascular pharmacology, cancer, developmental and autonomic pharmacology, clinical and biochemical pharmacology, molecular biology, and toxicology. Research laboratories are located in the McIntyre Medical Sciences Building and affiliated sites including the Douglas Hospital Research Centre, the Allan Memorial Institute, the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Montreal General Hospital, the Montreal Heart Institute, the Lady Davis Research Institute, and the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. The program admits students in the Fall and Winter terms.
