Overview
The Master of Science in Biological and Biomedical Engineering is a thesis-based, research-intensive program jointly offered by the Department of Bioengineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Students apply engineering and natural-science methods to problems in biology, medicine, and the life sciences, with faculty research spanning artificial cells and organs, bioinformatics and computational biology, biological materials and mechanics, biomedical imaging and microscopy, biomedical modelling, sensors, diagnostics and therapeutics, biomolecular and cellular engineering, bioprocess engineering, and micro- and nano-bioengineering. Admitted students are guaranteed funding for two years and interact regularly with physicians, scientists, and industry. Graduates pursue careers in industry, academia, hospitals, and government, or continue to doctoral study. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0, along with TOEFL 100 or IELTS 7.0. The program is offered with Fall and Winter intakes.
