The Graduate Certificate in Library and Information Studies is offered by the School of Information Studies in the Faculty of Arts at McGill University. It is a course-based, 15-credit program for professional librarians and information specialists who already hold a Master's degree from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited Master of Library & Information Studies program, or an equivalent ALA-accredited Master's degree, and wish to add a specialized credential to their existing qualification. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor who helps plan and design an individualized program of study, with coursework drawn from areas such as classification and cataloguing, information services, government information, abstracting and indexing, law and health sciences information, bioinformatics, and information literacy. The program can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis, to a maximum of five years, and intakes are offered in the Fall and Winter terms.

Admission Requirements: Applicants need an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and evidence of English-language proficiency.
