Pre-Employment Electrician Certificate

The Pre-Employment Electrician Certificate is designed to make students more competitive for employment in the electrical trade before securing an apprenticeship. The program covers first-year apprenticeship material alongside additional hands-on practice and safety training, giving students entry-level skills to improve their chances of being hired and indentured as an apprentice. Recommended prerequisites are English 20-2, Math 20-3, and Science 10, or a passing grade on all five GED tests or equivalents. The program runs for 360 hours and is delivered on the Medicine Hat campus. Upon completion, graduates receive a Medicine Hat College Certificate and may challenge the Alberta Apprenticeship First Year Period Theory Exam, giving them a documented head start toward full electrician apprenticeship and certification.
