Automated Controls Installation and Maintenance Advanced Certificate - Part-Time is a certificate in Electrical Engineering programme taught at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 7 years, delivered fully online. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 500 per total for local students.
This certificate extends skills gained through an electrical apprenticeship or through hands-on training and experience as an engineer. Delivery is split across lab and activity work, classroom instruction, and a smaller share of online learning. Covered topics include industrial communication and data acquisition, robotics, programmable logic controllers, renewable energy systems, and drafting. Graduates typically find work in mining, government, shipbuilding, railway, utility plants, manufacturing, pulp and paper mills, or oil and gas transport.

Admission Requirements: Admission is two-step. Step 1 is a Pre-Entry Assessment form reviewing the applicant's work experience against entrance requirements. International credentials must be evaluated through ICES or an approved Canadian credential service, including a course-by-course evaluation and GPA calculation. A valid BCIT study permit is required before starting, and the program's own page states it does not qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
