This certificate introduces students to electric vehicle (EV) fundamentals through classroom and shop-based instruction. Coursework covers electric and electronic fundamentals, electrified-vehicle systems and components, high-voltage safety procedures, and EV maintenance across battery-electric, plug-in hybrid and hybrid-electric vehicle architectures, along with diagnostic testing using industry-standard scan tools and equipment rated for high-voltage work. Students complete an EV-focused capstone project that may involve hardware, software, and system testing. The programme is delivered over one year (two semesters) at the Main Windsor Campus, program code T131. Graduates are eligible to pursue SAE Electrified Vehicle Certification Level 1 and may ladder directly into the two-year Electric Drive Vehicle Technician diploma. The credential prepares graduates for entry-level roles supporting EV maintenance and diagnostics as automotive and transportation employers add electrified vehicles to their fleets.
