Overview

Teaching takes place in practice labs with current equipment so that lab and simulation work mirrors clinical conditions, covering entry-to-practice requirements across the field. Topics include medication use, therapies and assessments for preventing, diagnosing and treating heart and lung disease, along with the use of mechanical ventilators and other life-support equipment. Graduates must register with Ontario's College of Respiratory Therapists to work in the province and are eligible to write the related national examinations. The programme is accredited by Accreditation Canada.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Secondary-school applicants need Grade 12 U-level (or equivalent) English, Math, Chemistry and Biology, plus Physics at the Grade 11 or 12 U level, at a minimum of 70% each, plus one additional Grade 12 U/U-M course, with an overall Grade 12 average of at least 75% across the top U-level subjects. Post-secondary applicants instead need a minimum CGPA of 2.70 (B-) on the OMSAS scale with at least 65% in each relevant subject. Admission is decided on CGPA (50%) and CASPer assessment result (50%).
